I’m the founder behind Parent + Play. Early childhood education is more than my job, it’s the lens I see play through. I hold an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and I’m trained to spot what actually helps kids learn in real time.

I started as a classroom teacher, working in both private and public schools, and also served as Department Chair of the Head Start department in a local district school. From there, my work shifted into observing classrooms in counties across the state, seeing what really works for kids from the other side of the room, too.

That experience taught me something worth sharing outside the classroom: the best learning moments rarely come from expensive kits or elaborate setups. They come from small, intentional play, the kind any parent can pull together on a weeknight.

Parent + Play is me bringing that experience home. Every idea here is something I’d actually hand a parent, grounded in how kids really learn, not just how a project photographs.

How Parent + Play Works

Every activity on this site follows the same simple format, so you always know what you’re getting before you scroll:

  • Quick-scan badges at the top tell you setup time, mess level, and approximate cost at a glance, before you’ve read a word.
  • Adapt It shows you how to stretch the same activity for a younger or older kid, or for siblings playing together.

What We’re About

Parent + Play isn’t a shopping haul. The activity is always the point — the product, when there is one, is just what makes it doable today. Most posts need one purchase or none at all.

The activities and ideas on this site are never gatekept behind a paywall or a members area. If something we’ve built is worth supporting, there’s a tip option — never a locked door.

Every so often, an activity might include an optional paid printable such as a set of cards, a menu, something like that — but that’s always extra, never the activity itself.

And every recommendation is grounded in real early childhood education experience, not just what photographs well. If it’s on this site, it’s something I’d actually hand a parent.
